Dr. Jefferson Chen is an MD/PhD candidate at UC Irvine entering his psychiatry residency, bringing over a decade of research, publishing, and mentorship experience to JV Admissions. While earning his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Dr. Chen cultivated a remarkably broad scientific background—spanning from developing biodefense microbe detectors at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to investigating epigenetic drivers of cancer at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. This diverse exposure fuels his passion for guiding new scholars. As the former CEO of the Journal of Young Investigators and a dedicated university mentor, Jefferson uses his multidisciplinary expertise to help students demystify the research process and communicate complex ideas with confidence.
